Washburn’s Metal Shipping Policy

Thank you for choosing Washburn’s Metal for your restoration and performance fabrication needs. We know that the foundation of a great build is quality metalwork, and we are committed to getting your parts to you safely, efficiently, and correctly.

Because we handle unique refurbished original parts, engineered fabrication tools, and oversized body panels, our shipping process is designed to ensure maximum protection for your investment.

1. Important Verification: Part Correctness

Many of our refurbished German VW components (such as parking brake levers, push bars, and trailing arms) are side-specific (e.g., Driver/Left vs. Passenger/Right) or year-specific.

  • Your Responsibility: Please meticulously review the product description, part numbers (e.g., #R70 vs. #R71), and fitment notes before completing your purchase.

  • Our Process: To maintain the historical correctness and safety of your build, we ship the exact variant confirmed in your order. If you have any doubt about fitment, please Contact Us before ordering.

2. Order Processing & Handling Times

Processing time is the period between placing your order and when it leaves our shop in Orange, CA.

  • Standard In-Stock Items: Orders for hardware, in-stock fabrication tools, and pre-refurbished parts are typically processed within 2–4 business days.

  • Custom / Made-to-Order: Products requiring custom powder coating, core procurement, or personalized fabrication (e.g., specific "Washburn Windows" configurations) typically ship within 7–14 business days.

  • Business Days: Our shipping department operates Monday through Friday, excluding major holidays.

3. Domestic Shipping (USA)

We ship nationwide from Orange, CA, primarily utilizing USPS and UPS.

  • Standard Ground: 3–7 business days.

  • Expedited (Priority): 2–3 business days.

  • Overnight/Express: 1–2 business days.

  • Oversized/Freight: Large metal panels, chassis crossmembers, or heavy engine components may require LTL Freight shipping. These items typically take 7–14 business days for delivery due to specialized handling.

4. International Shipping

Washburn’s Metal is proud to support the global air-cooled and fabrication community.

  • Standard International: 7–21 business days (1–4 weeks).

  • Express International (DHL/UPS): 3–5 business days.

  • Customs Clause: Transit times do not include potential delays at customs in the destination country.

  • Duties & Taxes: International orders are subject to import duties, taxes (VAT), and customs clearance fees. These are the sole responsibility of the customer and are collected by the carrier at the time of delivery. We are legally required to declare full value on all forms.

5. Shipping Costs & Local Pickup

  • Calculated Rates: Shipping costs are calculated in real-time at checkout based on weight, dimensions, and destination. We pass our commercial carrier discounts directly to you to ensure the lowest possible rate.

  • Local Pickup: Orders can be picked up at our shop in Orange, California, during normal business hours. Please select "Local Pickup" at checkout; we will notify you when your order is ready for collection.

6. Tracking, Damages, & Missing Items

  • Tracking: Once your order has shipped, you will receive a confirmation email with a tracking number. Information typically updates within 24 hours.

  • Inspection: Please inspect your package immediately upon delivery. We take great pride in our packaging, especially for powder-coated and delicate refurbished components.

  • Damages: If your order arrives damaged, document the damage (take photos of the exterior packaging and the contents) and contact us within 48 hours at WashburnsMetalShop@gmail.com.

  • Missing Items: If an item is missing from your shipment, please contact us immediately with your order number.

7. P.O. Boxes & Restricted Addresses

We can ship smaller items via USPS to P.O. Boxes and APO/FPO addresses. Larger items, chassis components, and heavy tools must be shipped to a physical address via UPS or Freight.
