Refurbished original German spring plate caps for 1949–1952 VW Beetle rear torsion housings. Sold as a pair. These are genuine German-stamped caps — not reproductions — sourced, media-blasted, inspected, and finished in semi-gloss black powder coat.
Why original German caps matter for a Split-Window restoration
Reproduction spring plate caps for the earliest Beetles are nearly impossible to find correct, and when they do show up they rarely match the original stamping geometry. For a numbers-correct or show-quality restoration of a 1949–1952 Beetle, the only real option is a restored original. We start with sound German cores and bring them back to clean, paintable, install-ready condition.

FAQ
Are these original German parts or reproductions?
Original German-stamped. We refurbish factory cores; we do not stamp reproductions.
Will they fit my 1953 Split-Window?
No. The 1953 Beetle uses a different cap design even though the car is still Split-Window. These are 1949–1952 only.
Do they come with hardware?
No. Hardware is not included. Reuse your original bolts if serviceable, or source period-correct replacements.
Is the powder coat a show-quality finish?
The semi-gloss black is a clean, durable, factory-appearance finish suitable for driver-quality and most show-quality restorations. For concours-level work, some builders prefer to strip and refinish to their own spec — these are a strong starting point either way.
