The Standard in Mid-Sixties Chassis Restoration.
For the 1960–1967 model years, Volkswagen moved away from the early "flat" tank design toward a high-capacity, offset-filler geometry. This EMPI 95-2001-B unit is manufactured from heavy-gauge cold-rolled steel, utilizing a precision lap-seam weld along the perimeter flange for maximum burst strength and leak resistance.
This is the "Complete Solution" kit, pre-packaged with the essential Threaded Fuel Outlet Pipe and Internal Brass Strainer, ensuring your fuel delivery system is as clean as the tank itself.
Technical Engineering Specs:
-
Filler Neck Architecture: Features the revised 60mm (2.36") O.D. neck. Note: This requires the bayonet-style 95-2005-B cap (available separately) for a tight seal.
-
Internal Fluid Dynamics: Equipped with a vertical anti-slosh baffle. This maintains fuel pickup stability during high-lateral G-loads and prevents "fuel-hammer" noise against the tank walls.
-
Corrosion Shield: Finished in a high-grade Electro-Deposit Primer (E-coat). This process provides 360° coverage, including inside the seams, to prevent oxidation.
-
Threaded Bung Precision: The base outlet is machined to exact tolerances to accept the included 8mm feed pipe, eliminating the thread galling common in low-tier reproductions.
Fitment Geometry:
-
Application: VW Type 1 (Bug) 1960–1967 / Karmann Ghia 1960–1967.
-
Capacity: 40 Liters (approx. 10.5 Gallons).
-
Interchange: Directly replaces OEM Part # 113-201-075-AB.
