Installation Guide: Step-by-Step

Note: This kit is for Link Pin front ends only. Ensure your spindles are clean and the bearing surfaces are smooth before assembly.

1. Teardown: Raise the vehicle and support the front beam on jack stands. Remove the grease caps, cotter pins, and thrust washers to pull the old drums.

2. Clean & Inspect: Use brake cleaner to strip away old grease and dust from the backing plate. Check for any cracks or warping in the spindle area.

3. Hydraulics: Unbolt the old wheel cylinders and install the new units provided. Swap the old flexible hoses for the new OE Style Brake Hoses.

4. Shoe Assembly: Install the new brake shoes using the provided hardware kit.

   • Pro Tip: Lightly grease the "pads" on the backing plate where the shoes rest to prevent squeaking and ensure smooth movement.

5. Bearings & Hub: This is the ideal time to clean and repack your Front Wheel Bearings. Slide the new drum onto the spindle.

6. Secure: Reinstall the thrust washer and axle nut. Tighten to eliminate play while still allowing the drum to spin freely. Never skip the cotter pin.

7. Adjustment: Use the new star adjusters to bring the shoes into light contact with the drum, then back off until the drum spins without dragging.

8. Bleed the System: Perform a full system bleed starting at the passenger rear and ending at the driver front to ensure all air is removed.
