Installation Guide: Step-by-Step
Note: Always disconnect your battery before working on steering or electrical components to prevent accidental horn activation.
-
Remove Old Wheel: Pop off your old horn button and remove the large central 27mm nut and washer securing the wheel to the steering column. Pull the old wheel straight off the splines.
-
Inspect the Cancel Cam: Ensure your turn signal cancellation cam (on the back of the old wheel or column) is in good condition. You may need to transfer your original cam to the new wheel using the provided hardware.
-
Align the Splines: Position your front wheels straight ahead. Slide the new steering wheel onto the splined column, ensuring the spokes are level.
-
Secure the Wheel: Reinstall the washer and the 27mm nut. Torque to factory specifications (approximately 36 ft-lbs).
-
Install Horn Ring: Position the chrome half-moon horn ring over the center of the wheel. Secure it using the provided screws, ensuring the contact points are clean.
-
Attach Horn Button: Connect the horn wire to the terminal on the back of the horn button. Press the button firmly into the center of the wheel until it clicks into place.
-
Final Test: Reconnect the battery and test the horn and turn signal cancellation for proper operation.
