Rebuilt German VW Steering Box — Standard Cover | Type 1 Beetle & Ghia 1961–1977
The same professional rebuild as our billet-cover box — at a lower price, with the original-style cast top cover. If you want a tight, factory-fresh steering feel and authentic German hardware but don't need the polished CNC billet upgrade, this is your box.
Built on a genuine German housing (marked with the VW logo), every unit is fully overhauled to eliminate the slop and play that creep into aging steering systems.
Choosing between this and our billet-cover box? Both get the identical internal rebuild. This standard-cover version saves you money; the CNC Billet Cover version adds a polished billet aluminum top plate that holds more constant pressure on the internals for play that stays gone longer.
