The case is the foundation every air-cooled build sits on, and EMPI's AS41 magnesium case (98-0431-B) is the all-new, stock-spec replacement for a cracked, line-bored, or worn-out original. Same lightweight AS41 magnesium alloy the factory used on late Type 1 engines, cast fresh — not a used core hoping to survive another rebuild.
